After dropping out of Central Saint Martins she moved to New York City and created the fictious identity of Anna Delvey, a wealthy German heiress who wants to set up an art foundation. In 2019, Sorokin was convicted of multiple counts of attempted grand larceny, theft of services, and larceny in the second degree for defrauding
